Who I Was Born To Be

Being who I was born to be

It has taken most of my adult life to realize who I was born to be. Later in this article, I will share who I was born to be. How long has it taken you to reach that pinnacle of life? Considering the world today is so much different than it was just 20 years ago. Time is marching on at a very fast pace. Consider the last century.

No, I cannot remember that far back. I am only 55 years old, but I listened to my great-grandparents reminisce about the days of old and it was a very different world indeed.

Our ancestors lived in a world where life depended on a good crop, which in turn was dependent upon good weather. Have you ever heard of the dust bowl? The period of time that began in the 1930s and came in waves until 1940 was not an “act of God” but was indeed brought on by the advancement of human engineering and the desire to populate the Canadian and American prairie lands.

Advancement or Convenience?

Researching the past has become a hobby of sorts and offers extensive material for future topics. Can you see the irony of this? In order to understand the future, we must first look into the past. I believe one of my favorite speakers, Doug Batchelor said something very similar when describing the book of Revelation.

We have been advancing (not evolving) since day one. Has it occurred for our benefit or our convenience? Which of our advancements has benefitted the world?

 The transportation Industry

It seems we have not been content to merely walk to a destination. Man began utilizing horsepower sometime in the Bronze age, nearly 6,000 years ago, according to excavation sites. Was this out of necessity or can we call this convenience? It wasn’t convenient for the animals being utilized.

Along came Karl Benz in 1885 who invented the first car, aptly named the automobile. If you break that word down it would appear to be for our convenience: Auto and Mobile.

Over the years these pieces of machinery have become faster and prettier. How fast do we need to go, anyway? And does it really matter what you look like when all people see is a mere blur whizzing by?

*Afterthought. If the earth is billions of years old, why has it taken so long to get where we are now? Why does our history begin where it does? Could it be because earth is actually a lot younger than some say it is? Food for thought.

Necessity?

On September 7, 1927, Phil Farnsworth created the first television broadcast. It was a straight-line broadcast. In 1936, RCA had completely functional television broadcasting equipment that was used by Telefunkin to broadcast the Berlin Summer Olympic games. Was it necessary to invent the television, or was it more for convenience? How has it benefitted the world? Has it brought our world closer together or has it served to create more civil unrest? Most crimes would go unnoticed if not for their being televised. Court cases are no longer private and although video can be a means to hold people accountable for their actions, it also has served to create worldwide protests which have turned into virtual battlefields. ( Matthew 24: 7- 8:[7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. [8] All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Advancement or Recession?

With all of the advances we have seen in transportation and technology, is our world a better place? Have we cured cancer and the starvation of many other nations that we now see on television? Will this world become what it was born to be, or is it on the way to self-destruction, or, as the Bible says a new beginning?

Genesis 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Assuming we believe what the Bible says, what did God create the earth to become? Did he create it and us to be what we are today? I sincerely do not think so, and we know what happens when we turn to our own ways, don’t we?

Genesis 19:24-25 (KJV) Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

The First New Beginning

Genesis 6:5-7 (KJV) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

There are many websites and even Wikipedia that dismiss the great flood as a myth. This is satan working in the world, as Jesus calls him: the prince of this world. We as Christians, who follow Christ believe what the Bible says. We believe every word of the Bible not because we have seen what it says but because we have faith in who inspired it.

The Second and Final New Begining

Revelation 20:12-15 (KJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelation 21(KJV)

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

As I stated earlier, it has taken me most of my life down a long trail to become who I was born to be. I am a writer but that is a gift. I play music on the piano yet that is just another gift I now use to glorify God in fellowship.

I was born to be a child of God, as we all were. Some will reject it and continue living a sinful life. Some believe they are saved and are deceived by the father of lies who tells them it is okay to do their own thing. All good people go to heaven, don’t they?
