Will All Good People Go To Heaven?
One common question is will all good people go to heaven? Do you believe you will go to heaven someday? Most churches teach this doctrine yet leave out the most important element: Jesus. Another false doctrine will be revealed further along in this post so don’t miss it!
Example: Jane was a wonderful person who would help anyone she could and never had a harsh word to say against anyone. She donated money and clothing to charities and volunteered at the local soup kitchen. Jane did not believe in God when she died. Will she be resurrected to eternal life?
Example: John believes God exists and created the universe. That is all he believes. John is another kind person who has never been in trouble and spends time helping others. Will he be among the redeemed?
Example: Clara believes in God and is faithful in attending church once each week. The other six days are spent at her job and mingling with friends at various social gatherings having a drink or two and an occasional cigarette-but only when she drinks. She gives to charity and assists others when she can and has never been in any sort of trouble. She doesn’t find it necessary to pray except at church. Will she be going to heaven?
So, will all good people go to heaven?
Misconceptions About Heaven
Were you taught that all good people go to heaven no matter what? The majority of us were, depending on what our parents were led to believe. Is heaven even a real place or just a fable? Were you told that you have an eternal soul that leaves the body at death and flies up to heaven? Let’s explore these beliefs according to what The Bible says.
Is Heaven Real
John 14:2 – In my Father’s house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Hebrews 11:16 – But now they desire a better [country], that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Revelation 21:1 – And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
I will not share every verse on heaven in this post. I believe everyone should open their Bible and learn for themselves, but yes, heaven is real.
Do We Go To Heaven At Death
John 3:13 – And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven.
Jesus ascended to heaven 40 days after His resurrection. He is still alive to this day. Who else has ascended to heaven? We know of Enoch and Elijah who God took up to heaven before death.
Hebrews 11:5 – By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Again, I suggest opening your Bible and studying these wonderful stories which are 100% true. They actually happened and are a part of earth’s history.
What Happens At Death
We are told from the first book of the Bible ( Genesis 2:7) that God created Adam from the dust and breathed the breath of life into him and he became a living soul: 7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
It is clear that we are souls. There is nothing but the breath of life that leaves us when we die that returns to God.
Death Is Described as Sleep
When we die we sleep until the resurrection
Jesus clearly describes death as a form of sleep. When His disciples were confused about His going to wake up Lazarus, He explained to them:
12Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
It is pretty clear, isn’t it?
Yes, We Go To Heaven but Not At Death
We go to heaven at the second coming of Jesus when He will call forth all of those who have followed Him in life and have died in faith. To anyone who dies in Christ, it will seem instantaneous as if they wake from a night of sleep. That is why the verse to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8) is taken out of context.
Who will Not Be Allowed
Before reading this, know that this is God’s word I share. Also, know that there is hope.
9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Here Is The Promise of Hope
1And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
How do we become washed, sanctified, and justified? By repenting (turning away) from things God says are sinful and confessing to Him. Then pray for forgiveness with a humble heart. That is just the beginning of a new life with Christ! What is sin? Any action that goes against His Ten Commandments, to begin with

The Bible tells us that those who know Jesus, accept Him as their savior, seek Him daily and deny themselves (pick up your cross and follow Him) will be called forth from the grave to go up into the clouds with Him to reign for a thousand years before the earth is made new.
Think of how amazing it will be to witness creation firsthand! Will it be worth it? You decide. I sincerely hope that all who hear His call will fully give their life to Jesus and be among His redeemed.
