Separating Truth From Fiction
Each time I log on to a social media platform, the first thing staring me in the face is some post about aliens on a webcam or yet another conspiracy theory. How do we separate truth from fiction, and does it really matter?
Flat Earth
The Earth is really flat, and NASA is the head of the biggest hoax in history—the moon landing on July 16, 1969. A friend of mine exclaimed to me a few years ago that we never went to the moon. She also claimed to have biblical proof that our earth is indeed flat.
She went on to share videos from a well-known platform. (This is also how she conducts her “Bible studies”.) In one video there is a small rocket being launched and not long into the video, a small tink can be heard as the rocket hits the alleged dome that encases our world.
“See? We can’t penetrate the dome, so how could they go to the moon?”

The flat earth society has been around since 1956 and was founded by Samuel Shenton, yet spherical earth has been known since the 4th-century bc.
Does The Bible Support Flat Earth?
Answer: NO. The Bible does not tell us that our planet is flat and covered by a dome. However, It is quite easy to twist the scriptures to say whatever you want them to say. The Bible begins with the creation of all things. Let’s begin there.
1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis ch 1 KJV
Notice how it says face. The face of the deep. This is one word they use to say that the Earth is flat. Does a ball also have a face? It does, depending on which side you are looking at. I will not waste any more time on this subject. The Earth is a sphere and we have more than ample actual proof of this. I still love my friend dearly, despite her delusion.
The Rapture
Understand this: I am not refuting the fact that all who accept Christ as their savior will be caught up with HIm upon HIs return because this is Biblical truth. (1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV )I am referring to a secret rapture that supposedly takes place before the great tribulation spoken of by Jesus.
The Bible makes it clear that all will go through tribulation. The author of the popular Left Behind series of books and movies got his pre-tribulation doctrine from scripture but it was taken out of context.
We read in Matthew 24 where Jesus speaks of the day and hour of His return (which is unknown to even Him) He says “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
We must know the context of His words. A woman refers to a church. When He says two were in the field He means 2 churches. One true and one false. Also, grinding at the mill refers to sharing the gospel. Again, one true and one false. The false will be left to destruction.
And again, it refers to two men in a bed. The bed is the grave, as they are both asleep (dead). The one who sleeps in Christ will be resurrected to eternal life, the other to the second death. To study this subject, read Matthew 24.

God is pretty clear in His word what happens when we take our last breath. It is described as sleep in various areas of the Bible. Still, the most clear definition came from Jesus Himself when He spoke of His friend Lazarus in John 11:11-15 ” 11These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
As this is written, it is mid-October and Halloween decorations are popping up everywhere. Is this a harmless holiday created for children’s enjoyment? It is a holiday created by Satan to honor Satan and His twisting of the gospel. It is an abomination and anyone who follows Jesus should have nothing to do with it.
ALL GOOD PEOPLE GO TO HEAVEN
If all good people automatically go to heaven, why would we need a savior? Why would Jesus need to come to earth as a human to do all that He did? Is having a good heart enough?
