Hello and thank you for visiting today 🙂

If you cringe every time you see the price of laundry detergent then you are not alone. I got so tired of paying these prices that I decided it was time to make my own.

Living on a budget means cutting corners whenever possible, yet it does not have to come at the cost of quality. By making your own laundry detergent you can save at the checkout and feel good about creating a safe and effective product for your family.

I have made several different types of laundry detergent and will share with you here the best laundry detergent recipe I have found that takes less time to prepare than liquid detergent.

These ingredients can be used to create liquid detergent, but I found it much easier and just as effective to make it dry.

  • 15 Ounces washing soda
  • 15 Ounces Borax
  • 1 full bar of Fels-Naptha, shaved
  • 10 drops of your favorite essential oil
  • 1 Cup Calgon water softener (powder)

mix thoroughly

  • Store in a sealed container (Use a scoop from no longer needed detergent!)

This detergent will get your laundry clean in all water temps and I myself love how it seems to improve with each wash! If you have a food processor or old blender you no longer use, you can take it a step further and turn it into a fine powder. Be careful though…do not inhale the dust particles. Allow it to settle before removing the lid.

You will find that if you make your own laundry detergent it will pay for itself in a short amount of time and you will see that extra money in your pocket, not the grocery store bill!

I hope you found this helpful and thank you for visiting! Until next time, make each and every day count for something!
