Are you guilty of living a double life? Most of us are and have no idea! Do you say one thing and do another? How about putting on airs in public and acting differently in private? If yes, then you are a double agent. Another word for this is hypocrisy and the world thrives on it!
What is Living A Double Life
I know what this is because when I first came to Jesus over five years ago, (I was not raised a Christian or even told who God or Jesus is) The whole concept of sin was not clear to me, as the information that was being conveyed told me that it was okay to live your life however you pleased: As long as you believe in God, it’s all good.
Isn’t that a double standard? What other double standards can you think of? How about this one: “Do as I say, not as I do” Do you remember hearing that from mom or dad when growing up? I know I did. Both of my parents were alcoholics and smoked like chimneys.
Both of my parents died at a young age. I am approaching the age when my dad died. I have stopped drinking alcohol and quit smoking cigarettes, praise God for the victory! My health is pretty good considering all of the abuse and for that, I also thank the Lord. I eat a healthy, mostly plant-based diet and drink lots of filtered water with lemon juice.
What Does Jesus Say?
Is God’s love unconditional? Is it true the majority of churches are teaching these days? All we need to do is believe in God, accept Jesus as our savior and all are saved?
Is it fine to go out every night, smoke those cigarettes or joint, pop those pills to feel good, then go to church and call yourself a Christian? Do you even care? If you don’t care about these things then go on your way to condemnation. Nobody can stop anyone from throwing their life away.
- Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
- 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
- Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. - Ezekiel 18:32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!
- Acts 17:30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
Now I ask you, do these verses say that God has no conditions for salvation? He certainly does have conditions. The problem today is we feel these conditions are too harsh when in actuality they are the easiest!
Life Is Too Short! Have Fun Now!
Is waking up with that hangover fun?How about that smokers cough that will eventually lead to being tied to an oxygen tank? These are the two most common sinful activities and neither one leads to any form of security, do they?
Yes, life here on this earth is short for a reason. Satan made sure of this when he deceived the first humans and tricked them into disobeying God. Yes, the devil is real and you can read more on his existence on this page.
We Were Created To Live Forever
God never intended His perfect creations to die, yet it happened. God had ONE simple condition when He placed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and that was to NOT eat of the tree in the midst of the garden. One simple request and they chose to listen to the lies that satan whispered.
On that very day, they died spiritually and lost their glorified bodies. God also had to block the way to the tree of life which would have kept them alive forever. If you are at all familiar with Bible terminology and prophecy then you are aware that a day is equal to a year for the Lord in certain parts of scripture, so Adam and Eve lived to be just under one thousand years.
We Can Still Live Forever!
Throughout the whole Bible, we are taught about Jesus and why He came to Earth. He was born of a virgin, He did live as a carpenter until His 30th birthday when His ministry began. Read the Gospels of Matthew Mark Luke And John. Each tells of Jesus’ life and why He died on the cross. He was crucified to fulfill God’s plan of salvation.
Do you think that God would sacrifice His only son and not expect anything in return? When we are baptized under the water, we sacrifice our old lives and are reborn when emerging from the water. Jesus led a sinless life. He did not need to repent. He did this as an example for us to follow at His own baptism.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
He Will Return
After His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus ultimately ascended to heaven. He had taken victory over death and this is what is promised to us at His return.
Acts 1: 7-10 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Jesus will return for His followers and what a glorious day that will be!
What will happen when He returns? We see this in the last book of the Bible. Jesus appears in every book of the Bible, but the last book is the Revelation of Jesus Christ and explains how the Earth and all of the wicked will be destroyed when He returns with all of the Angels. Will you be ready?
