Am I Saved?

  1. Baby Christian, who wonders how to know for sure if you are truly saved, Or
  2. have been raised in a Christian environment, attend church every week, and are hearing conflicting opinions on this topic.

This is a very important question and, given my life in the past, one I ask myself. Let’s explore Bible truth together.

7 Steps To Salvation

  1. See God. By this, do we see God for who He is?

Revelation 22:13 – I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

John 4:24 – God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (some dispute the fact that Jesus is God incarnate, that God came to Earth in the form of man, and that man is Jesus)

John 12:45 – And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

Colossians 1:16 – For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him

John 8:24 – I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

Psalms 83:18 – That [men] may know that thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth.

Deuteronomy 7:9 – Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he [is] God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

        2. See Ourselves. Do We See Ourselves As Sinners?

Believe it or not, we are all sinners! This began in the garden of Eden and continues to this day. Only one man was perfect and that was Jesus when He lived among us.

It doesn’t matter how kind or giving we may think we are, we all fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Who has never broken one of the Ten Commandments? Think about God’s commandments. Can anyone honestly say they have never broken one?

        3.Repentance

Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

What is true repentance?

Am I saved if I profess to be a Christian yet refuse to give up sin in my life? The Lord convicts us to turn from our sins. If we feel guilty about doing certain things, that is God’s conviction. Here is a good resource on the subject of hypocrisy: Christians or hypocrites? what are you?

To repent of our sins means to give up those things in your life that God condemns. Need to quit smoking?

Need help understanding your Bible?

            4. Confess Your Sins

Nobody will be able to remember every sin they have committed against the Lord, so use the ten commandments as a basic guideline and go from there. Who has never told a lie or coveted a new car or bigger home?

Once we confess our sins to God, He will forgive and forget! (As long as we are humbled and sincere)

            5. Receive God

By opening our hearts to God, the Holy Spirit will begin to do His good work. It may not be felt immediately, but the more time we spend in the Bible the stronger our faith becomes. It’s true! We become what we behold.

             6.Hear God

How do we hear God? It is that still, small voice from within that stirs. This voice will give us direction. God would never lead us in the wrong direction, so if something is pulling you to do something that you know Jesus would not approve of, you can know it is Satan who is doing that influencing.

            7. Go For God

How do we go for God? By reading and studying His word daily and praying. This is how we get to know God. Attending church regularly brings us into a special commune with God when we can share a weekly fellowship with our church family.

Share your testimony with people! How has Jesus helped you to live a better life, to turn from sin? Then, when you ask yourself am I saved, that small voice will say “Yes, you are!”
