What is grieving the Holy Spirit?
According to the Bible, grieving the Holy spirit can result in being lost or losing your salvation. Think about the days of Noah and how long it took him to build the ark:
Noah was sharing the gospel and warning the people of their impending doom the whole time he was building the ark. How many people were saved from the great flood? Noah and his family were the only ones saved. The rest of the population stood by watching and mocking. It had never rained on the earth before, why should they believe him? Is this not grieving the Holy Spirit?
Bible Truth
- Isaiah 63:10: But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them.
- Acts 7:51: “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.
- Ats 5:9: But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
- Hebrews 10:29: How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
The Unforgiven
- Matthew 12: 31-32: Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
There are over 100 verses on this one topic of grieving the holy spirit, so I believe it is crucial. Read Christians or hypocrites and ask yourself which one am I? Are you living a life Jesus would condone or condemn? If in doubt, turn to God himself and seek Bible Truth. After all, it is His book. Is it ok to have an occasional drink? What does Jesus say: Proverbs 20:1 – Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Do Not Be Led Astray
#1 reason to learn bible truth: Many Churches today seem to be following the “everything in moderation” standard, which tells people what they want to hear but goes against the word of God. Our adversary the Devil (Satan, aka Lucifer) knows the Bible better than any of us and is not afraid of any church. In fact, He wants us to attend church because he has infiltrated the majority of them! False doctrine is all around. Any church that does not follow God’s commandments and twists doctrine is not part of The Lord’s remnant church.
Does this mean we should not attend church? I believe we should attend church if at all possible because Jesus himself went to worship on the Sabbath each week: Luke 4:14-16 14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Next time I will discuss the remnant church and how to identify it. Until then, please sign up and make each and every day count for something!
