Learn Bible Truth
Follow Christ Or Lose Your Life? Have you heard this preached lately in your church or anywhere for that matter? This is a topic rarely broached among churches because it is not what people want to hear, is it? We would rather have the sugar coating than have to take the medicine straight and learn bible truth, wouldn’t we? Where shall I begin…
Is Baptism Necessary
Do you think it is necessary? Let’s take a look at what Jesus says about this, but first, follow this link to Wikipedia and read that definition on baptism.
Did you read that definition? Notice it was described as sprinkling or pouring on the head or by immersing. What is the correct method of Baptism according to The Bible, which is the only correct source for information?
- Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
- Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

- And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
- Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
- Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. Luke 2:21-22
Why Was Jesus Baptized?
Thinking about Luke 3:21-22, did Jesus himself need to be baptized? No, he did not, because He lived a perfect, sinless life. He was the ultimate sacrifice for OUR sins, being called the lamb of God. Jesus was baptized as an example for us to follow. There are 8 more bible verses on Baptism. I will list them here from dailyverses.net
- For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Titus 3:5
Baptism is a public ceremony in which we publicly acknowledge our belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior and give our lives to Him through Baptism and repentance of our sins, which leads me to my next topic…
Repentance
What is repentance and why is it necessary to be saved? Again, let us see what Wikipedia’s definition is: Repentance is the activity of reviewing one’s actions and feeling contrition or regret for past wrongs, which is accompanied by a commitment to and actual actions that show and prove a change for the better. In Judaism and Christianity, it is often defined as an action, turning away from self-serving activities and turning to God, to walk in his ways.
We Cannot Serve Two Masters
What does this mean? Luke 16:13 – No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Here is a prime example: One who parties all night and then attends church the next day professing to be a Christian. Is this not serving two masters? This is part of how we learn bible truth, by examining scripture.
