Good day everyone. It is another new day. I have been meaning to create a post per day. Unfortunately, outside work and a recent crisis within my household has kept me from my laptop. Each one of my four cats needed to be treated for fleas, along with the house. I will save that for another topic as this one is more important.
I have been asked by some folks how I know that God is real. A simple answer would be I know God is real because I have faith. This is not an acceptable answer by many and since I spent the last 48 years of my life in darkness, not hearing about Jesus or God’s word, it would not have been acceptable to me either.
I was not raised in any faith. I was “baptized” at the age of 12 into a Lutheran church yet never knew what baptism meant. I did go to a few Bible classes after school just to avoid going home. I don’t even recall what was taught. I didn’t even see a Bible in our home until both my parents had passed away and it was time to do what we are supposed to do. (In another post I will discuss ways to make your loved-ones lives easier after you die)
I found four Bibles and wondered why my Mother never talked about God. Did she not believe in him? This makes me sad, knowing what I now know. In fact, I never heard my great grandparents talk about God or Jesus or my grand parents. Nobody except my great aunt and great uncle who were Jehovah witnesses. Why was my life devoid of faith?
Some of you who have read previous posts know that I only recently (within the last 4 years) have began studying The Bible and I became angry that my family had kept God away from me. My life and that of my own children would have been entirely different had I been walking with Jesus. We all know that we cannot change the past and forgiveness comes hard for many of us, yet Jesus taught that if we cannot forgive others then we ourselves will not be forgiven. That phrase is in The Lords Prayer so it must be important: Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others who trespass against us.
I didn’t really understand the Lord’s prayer until it was explained. So, how can we know that the Bible is real? In school I found history to be a boring subject. These days I dive into it, because history around the world and certain events that are depicted in our history books can be found in your Bible and they were written about long before they even occurred. It is not a fictional work!
Let’s take a look at the book of Genesis and the great flood God created to destroy every living thing except for His servant Noah and his family. Read about it by clicking HERE. There are plenty of unbelievers who can say it never happened, yet why do they search for proof to show that it did not and uncover evidence that shows at one point there was indeed a massive flood? They date this to be around 7,000 years ago where those who know Bible timeline date the Earth to be around 6,000 years old.
Once you begin to study World history along with the Bible it becomes clear that the Bible is the living word of God that was written by men whom God inspired to write FOR him. God directed their words through his divine spirit.
I suggest taking a simple course of Bible study to gain a greater understanding. You can sign up for these FREE courses by clicking HERE. If links do not work, please leave a comment.
I spend more time watching documentaries, real documentaries on excavation sites dating back to various points in the Bible than I do on the dribble thay have for programming on television, meant to distract everyone from the important matters that Jesus wants us to know.
As he promised before he descended to heaven, he will return again and his rewards will be with him. John 14:1-3 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
More on this subject in the future. Until next time, make each and every day count for something!
