Hi Everyone!
I made a delicious pasta dish this evening and wanted to share my recipe which uses turkey smoked sausage, but you can use whatever you desire in this easy pasta dish. Where I live, pasta dishes are popular, especially in the winter. Later on, I will be sharing some of my best soup and stew recipes as well.
Whole grain pasta can be used here if desired. Also, tarragon adds a fresh flavor to this dish, and cumin will give it an earthy flavor. Experiment with herbs and different spices
Ingredients:
- 1 Small onion, sliced thin
- 6 oz penne pasta
- 1 package of Johnsonville Turkey smoked sausage cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 Tbl. dried or fresh Basil
- 1T garlic powder or fresh
- 1/2 C Chopped Red
- 1/2 C Chopped Green Pepper
- 1 Jar diced tomatoes with green chili
- 1 Jar tomato sauce
- 1T olive oil
- Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Cook the pasta until Al Dente. In a large frypan, add oil. saute’ onion and peppers until tender on medium heat. Toss in your sausage and stir well. Add diced tomatoes and tomatoes sauce. Sprinkle on basil and garlic. Reduce heat and simmer approximately 20 mins. Plate and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Garlic bread goes well with this dish. This is a favorite easy pasta dish of mine. Feel free to make it your own with whatever ingredients you like.
Until next time, make each and every day count for something!
