Once Saved Always Saved
Or satan’s lie? If you need to ask, you need to learn Bible truth on this subject. Welcome! I am so glad you found my blog because Bible truth is what my mission is. I felt the Lord convicting me some time ago to use the gift (writing) He bestowed upon me to share His word. So here I am!
Are You Saved?
Click the headline above to read that article if you are unsure. Many of us are unsure about our salvation and Satan loves that! Lucifer relishes in the lies that he has spread since the day he was cast down here. You do know that Satan rules this planet, don’t you? God is ultimately in control but Lucifer has free reign down here until Jesus’ return.
So I have been born again:
Baptized by emersion after committing myself to a period of studies on this topic and what it actually means to accept Jesus as my savior. I then promised to live a Christian life, striving to reflect my savior in both action and word. My change came from The Holy Spirit working in my life, daily prayer, and fellowship with Church family.
Always Saved?
Once I commit myself to Christian life, can I be lost? Some churches preach once saved always saved and are actually setting their members up for failure! Yes, you can still be lost! Do you think that salvation is unconditional? If it were, why would Jesus say this:
- 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
- 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:22-23)
What did Jesus mean by this? Anyone who claims to be a Christian and does not live by the Word as Jesus did. Anyone who takes His name in vain, meaning they pretend to follow Christ while still living a life full of sin will be lost. They talk the talk yet don’t walk the walk. It may be possible to deceive others but not the Almighty!
What Is A Sinful Life
Do you, like so many others meet your friends after work for a cocktail or two every Friday night to cap off the week? How about those who have a glass of wine each night and smoke a few cigarettes-or more? Does that daily soap opera you watch or those video games take precedence over spending time with God?
Do you feel attending church isn’t a necessity anymore, or it’s okay to party all night before going to church the next day? Maybe that party is the reason you skip church altogether.
Yes, the way we live our lives has an impact on our salvation.
Is that party, glass of wine, or cigarette/cigar more important than everlasting life when Jesus returns? And there are worse addictions than these. I just pointed out the “normal” daily activities that many professed Christians partake of. I was one of the hypocrites until I realized the error of my ways and asked the Lord to remove these sins from my life, and He did!
Simply announcing that you are a Christian and saying that Jesus is your savior may not be enough to get you into His kingdom. If the church you attend is telling you this, please pick up your Bible and read it for yourself.
- Luke 13:24 24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
There are many verses that suggest once saved always saved. I will list them here and please read them in the context that they were written:
- Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Read More…)
- Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Now, read these next verses:
- Matthew 7:21 – Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
- Acts 16:30-33 – And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Read More…)
- Galatians 2:21 – I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Grieving The Holy Spirit
It is possible to lose salvation…by continuing to do those things that displease God when you know His will. It is not His will that His children drink alcohol-even in moderation or smoke anything. We are not supposed to mark our bodies either, as they are considered temples. No more tattoos. Confess and repent from these sins.
Jesus did not drink fermented wine.
This argument is popular among many of my friends who refuse to give up all alcoholic beverages. “But Jesus made water into wine at the wedding party!”
Jesus made water into NEW wine, which was the best grape juice one could ever taste! Do you actually think that He would poison His body with alcohol and make himself unclean? This would have nullified God’s plan of salvation!
Stay tuned for more on this topic: Thriving As A Christian. I will be discussing my own life and Christian living. Until next time, make each and every day count for something!
